A stamped part can look complete on a drawing and still create problems once material behaviour, forming, tolerances, burr direction, plating, inspection, and assembly fit are introduced.

Early review can help identify risks before dimensions, materials, tolerances, and tooling assumptions are locked.

Machined, laser-cut, etched, or hand-formed parts may need design changes before they can be produced consistently through stamping.

Alloy, gauge, and temper affect formability, conductivity, spring performance, strength, corrosion resistance, finish compatibility, and cost.

Critical dimensions, bend locations, contact geometry, flatness, coplanarity, and tolerance stack-ups may affect both tooling and final assembly performance.

Preload, deflection, contact force, retention, stress, and mating geometry should be reviewed together to reduce variation and premature failure.

The part may need to remain dimensionally stable through finishing, mold loading, handling, inspection, and downstream assembly.

A DfM review can help determine whether prototype tooling, bridge tooling, progressive dies, carrier-strip processing, or custom gaging is the right production path.

Practical changes made before tooling release can reduce complexity, improve repeatability, and lower long-term production risk.

Pierces, slots, tabs, lances, embossments, coined areas, extrusions, bends, forms, and cutoff features are reviewed for stamping feasibility and tool stability.

Material selection is reviewed against forming behaviour, springback, conductivity, strength, corrosion resistance, availability, and finishing requirements.

Bend radius, direction, flange length, grain orientation, forming sequence, and material recovery are reviewed for cracking, distortion, and dimensional variation.

Critical dimensions and datum schemes are reviewed against how the part will be formed, located, inspected, assembled, and used.

Burr orientation and edge condition are reviewed where they may affect electrical contact, insertion, sealing, overmolding, handling, or mating-part wear.

Finish type, thickness, masking, selective plating, solderability, corrosion resistance, and post-plate handling are considered before tooling is finalised.

Part presentation may be reviewed for plating, overmolding, automated assembly, inspection, reel-to-reel handling, or controlled packaging.

Critical features are reviewed to determine whether standard measurement, custom gaging, functional checks, force testing, or dedicated fixtures may be required.

Prototype tooling, bridge tooling, progressive dies, secondary operations, validation, packaging, and production timing are considered together.
