second-source, supplier replacement

Qualify a backup stamping source or replace an underperforming supplier

Quality is drifting. Deliveries are slipping. Capacity is tight. Tool access is limited. Or the program needs a reliable U.S.-based backup before supply becomes harder to protect.

Gromax helps OEMs and Tier suppliers qualify alternate sources for precision stamped parts, transferred tooling, replacement tooling, reshoring, and long-term supply continuity.

when a second

source

makes sense

Burr growth, dimensional variation, plating defects, flatness problems, spring-force changes, or inconsistent fit may indicate that the current process is no longer stable.

Late shipments, long lead times, limited press capacity, or poor schedule visibility can put production and inventory at risk.

Uncertain ownership, incomplete maintenance records, restricted access, or undocumented die changes can make the current supply path difficult to protect.

A qualified U.S.-based source can shorten communication paths, support faster issue review, and reduce exposure to extended supply chains.

Closure, relocation, ownership changes, reduced support, or supplier consolidation can create immediate risk for active programs.

A second-source review can help connect tooling, stamping, inspection, finishing, assembly, and packaging under a more controlled domestic production route.

parts we support

Gromax supports prototype tooling for precision stamped parts used in electromechanical, regulated, and assembly-critical products, including:

Spring Clips & Brackets

Formed parts for retention, grounding, positioning, or mechanical support.

Busbars

Conductive stampings for power distribution and high-current assemblies.

EMI/RF Shields

Stamped covers or cans that reduce electronic interference.

Stamped Inserts for Overmolding

Metal inserts designed to be molded into plastic assemblies.

Leadframes & Sensor Inserts

Precision stamped frames or inserts for electronic packages.

Wire Form Pins

Formed contacts for signal, grounding, battery, or spring-force connections.

Ultra Thin Foil

Flexible conductive components using ultra-thin foil material.

how a second

source

is qualified

We review whether the need is driven by quality, delivery, capacity, tooling access, supplier instability, reshoring, cost, or backup-supply planning.

The drawing, samples, material, finish, tooling status, gaging, inspection data, and known issues are reviewed together.

Critical features, mating surfaces, force requirements, finish, packaging, and approval criteria are separated from undocumented practices or unnecessary restrictions.

The existing die, repair needs, replacement tooling, press requirements, secondary operations, and qualification timing are evaluated.

First samples may require dimensional inspection, functional fit checks, plating verification, capability studies, FAI, PPAP, or customer-specific approval.

Inspection frequency, tool maintenance, packaging, documentation, change control, and communication expectations are defined for ongoing supply.

Whether you’re qualifying an alternate source, replacing an underperforming supplier, or reducing risk in your production supply chain, we’re happy to review the part, tooling, and process.
