A transfer may be driven by quality, delivery, capacity, cost, supplier closure, reshoring, or the need for a qualified second source.

A tool that has not run recently may need inspection, cleaning, sharpening, replacement details, setup reconstruction, and validation before production can restart.

A die can appear usable while still producing burr growth, weak forms, poor cutoff, dimensional drift, strip-tracking problems, or inconsistent part release.

Print revisions, undocumented tool modifications, and informal supplier adjustments can create a gap between the active requirements and what the die actually produces.

Some tools rely on undocumented feed settings, lubrication, press adjustments, sensor logic, scrap handling, or operator practices.

Existing fixtures, inspection methods, control plans, or PPAP records may no longer match the active drawing or functional requirement.

Punches, inserts, cutting sections, form stations, pilots, stripper plates, springs, guide components, sensors, wear plates, and adjustment points are checked for damage, wear, and missing details.

The current drawing, datums, tolerances, notes, material, finish, and customer-specific requirements are compared with the die and available sample parts.

Feed direction, pitch, coil width, shut height, tonnage, strip progression, piloting, lubrication, scrap removal, sensors, and part handling are reviewed for compatibility with the receiving pressroom.

Critical dimensions, bends, forms, flatness, burr condition, cutoff geometry, spring features, contact locations, and part presentation are reviewed against actual production needs.

Available tool drawings, strip layouts, setup sheets, maintenance records, repair history, sensor logic, and spare-detail lists are reviewed to identify missing information.

Existing gages, fixtures, first article data, capability studies, control plans, and customer approval requirements are checked against the current print and functional features.

Material grade, thickness, temper, coating, plating, deburring, tapping, cleaning, assembly, and packaging are considered as part of the full restart route.
